There's No Better Time To Start... Than Now!
Let me start by saying, that is easier said than done. When I started One Stone Web back in 2014, I had been creating websites for friends (some of whom are still clients) as a side hobby that helped with making some extra spending money. My main source of income was another company that I started, and suddenly, in 2013, that business dried up. I had no idea what I was going to do, in fact, I started to send out resumes hoping to find work.
With the encouragement of my wife, family, and some friends, I started One Stone Web. I had no idea how to start up a web business, let alone how to run one. Being of the nature that nothing is gained if nothing is tried One Stone Web was born in early 2014. -- With 4 existing clients.
It was a start.
As it turns out, that was all I needed. Those clients told other clients, and the business began to grow. I was not a great web designer back then, but I worked long hours, put in hard work, kept getting better at my craft, and the business kept growing. There was no better time to start One Stone Web.
There have been times over the past several years, that I had wished I had the word from Karen Lamb on a poster on my office wall. "A year from now you may wish you had started today." As an entrepreneur or small business owner, there are times when it may seem like you are too busy to start a new project for your business. Or to even start a busness. I have had several of those moments, here are just a few:
- When it came time to upgrade equipment
- Taking the time to expand services we offer to clients
- Finding the time to start our own social media campaign, not just for our clients
- Starting this blog
- Hiring help
If there is one lesson I have learned over the years, is there will never be any better time to start something than right NOW. Whether you are starting a venture, expanding a business, re-branding or refocusing your business, now is the best time to do just that. Don't look back a year from now and think to yourself, "I wish I had started this a year ago."
